by | Aug 30, 2022

Following the departure of James Benson, Conor O’Connell, former CIF Southern Region Director, has taken up the mantel of Housing, Planning & Development Director.

Conor joined the CIF in 2001 and is an experienced construction sector advocate. Alongside managing a regional branch network, he has worked extensively on housing supply policy issues, drafting Local

Authority Development Plan submissions and reports on Apartment Viability, representing the industry at Oireachtas Committee Hearings and writing op-eds for national publications on housing supply. More recently, Conor heads up the provision of services to the Irish Home Builders Association (IHBA) nationally.

IHBA members construct almost 90 per cent of Ireland’s new homes and encompass a wide scale of businesses, from SMEs to the largest PLCs. The organisation’s national reach affords a unique perspective on the solutions to Ireland’s housing supply problem.

Conor is a strong advocate for a more streamlined regulatory process to ensure the private sector can deliver the much- needed homes for people living in Ireland. He holds qualifications in Real Estate Economics and Finance as well as Law, Business and HR.
