The 2023 Top 50 construction contractors presents the excellence of an industry that represents Ireland across the world – the
very best in Irish construction.
The companies that have made it onto the list hold the highest turnover in the industry and have had the resilience and fortitude to weather the Covid pandemic, and more recently, the dual challenge of supply chain gridlock and cost inflation.
So who has made it onto the list? We congratulate our top three companies, John Sisk & Son, Mercury and Jones Engineering, giants of the industry, whose mark on the built environment can be seen in practically every country.
A welcome to 2023 Top 50 newcomers DRES Developments, Townmore, Techrete Group, CJK, Mannings Construction Group, Clonmel Enterprises and David Flynn Limited and we hope that we continue to see you on our future Top 50 lists, which highlight a global impact by featuring both Irish and international turnovers.
As the Construction Industry Federation’s new Director General, I am honoured to represent a sector that continues to perform at the highest levels on the domestic and global stage.
The recent census has revealed that Ireland’s population has increased to over five million people for the first time in 171 years.
The Irish economy critically requires upgraded infrastructure to sustain economic growth, underpin increased housing output and support our strongly increasing population.
The Top 50 list shows that we are well positioned to deliver construction and development projects to answer the needs of a growing nation. But in order to do this, we need a clear pipeline of construction-ready work, which will be critical to supporting the industry’s investment in people, processes and technology and for driving greater adoption of modern construction methods.
All of the companies on our list are significant employers, directly and indirectly. We want to attract the best workers into
the industry and diversity is high on our agenda.
There is no doubt that widening the talent pool by attracting more women is essential, alongside reaching more young people as they explore possible careers.
As an industry with such a sizable footprint on the economy, we are committed to fulfilling our responsibilities and are striving for world-class quality standards and the best in sustainability.
While the companies on our list have achieved the highest turnovers in Ireland for construction, we also have a responsibility to represent and champion smaller construction companies, which are the backbone of local economies in towns across Ireland.
We acknowledge the hard work and dedication of all our colleagues through this special edition.
My congratulations to all who have been included on our Top 50 list this year. We are immensely proud of every worker
that serves the sector, and we wish you continued success.
